The Star Theatre is the flagship auditorium of The Star Performing Arts Centre, which occupies the upper nine floors of The Star, a 15-storey mixed-use complex in one-north next to Buona Vista MRT station. The centre was completed in October 2012 and opened on 1 November 2012 with an inaugural concert by David Foster; the building, designed by Andrew Bromberg of Aedas at a cost of S$500 million, pairs the performing arts centre with The Star Vista mall and is owned by Rock Productions. The theatre's traditional horseshoe auditorium seats 5,000 across the stalls and two circle levels (1,900 in the stalls alone, 3,700 with Circle 1), and its box-within-a-box steel structure is built for acoustic isolation; the last row of the upper circle is just 56 metres from the stage, which keeps the hall intimate despite its size. It is fitted with high-end audio, video and production lighting systems and hosts amplified music, large-scale musical theatre and dance, and conferences. Besides concerts, the complex also houses a 770-seat function hall, an outdoor 300-seat amphitheatre and a rooftop reception area, and The Star PAC is the venue for New Creation Church's weekend services.
